The Always Artichoke 1/2" Seam Binding Ribbon is gathered using a sewing technique called "Ruching." I used both the 1/2" Seam Binding Ribbon and the Victoria Crochet Trim. The Fun Flowers are also sponged along the petals with River Rock to help create some depth. EMBOSSING FOLDER DESIGNER FRAMES SERIESThe Designer Series Paper that I used for the Fun Flowers is the River Rock from the Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack Neutrals Collection. Next, I used my Big Shot and Fun Flowers Bigz L Dies to create the background flowers that frame the Designer Frames Textured Embossing Folder. The first layer is Ivory Natural stamped with the En Francais Background stamp using River Rock Classic Ink then wrinkled for a distressed appearance. To create this card, I started with a card base using River Rock Cardstock. I also have a neighbor and wonderful client, Melissa, that just had major surgery so I really needed an elegant Get Well card for her. The inspiration for this card started out with the Stampin' Up! Only Challenge Blog as I knew I needed a Get Well card for the current challenge. I knew the basic card design I had been wanting to do with clustered elements and it was just a matter of time. This is my first card using the Designer Frames Textured Embossing Folder set. While playing with the oval shape, I quickly found that I really liked the appearance of tearing out the embossed oval. When mine first arrived, I wasn't certain how I was going to use these Designer Frames. The Designer Frames Textured Embossing Folders Set is a new product introduced in the 2011-2012 Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalog. Run this through the Big Shot - you might have to play with the tabs on the Multi-Purpose platform to get the right pressure, depending on the thickness of your oval chipboard. So your sandwich is Multi-Purpose Platform, Oval Chipboard (adhered to the folder), Flower Garden Folder (cardstock inside), and Top Cutting Plate. The chipboard piece is a substitute for the bottom cutting plate. Now, place this embossed piece inside the Flower Garden Textured Impressions Embossing Folder so that the flower you like is showing inside the embossed oval frame.Ĭlose the folder and then use a tiny bit of adhesive to attach the Oval chipboard piece to the Embossing Folder so that it lines up with the embossed oval on the cardstock - you can see through the folder to the embossed cardstock. Then I embossed the Oval Designer Frame onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock. To create this, I punched out several layers of a lightweight chipboard with the Extra Large Oval Punch and then glued them together to create a thick stack. For Select Embossing inside the Oval Designer Frame, I first created a chipboard oval cutting plate substitute using the Extra Large Oval Punch - formerly known as the Wide Oval Punch. The Big Shot embosses using pressure, so if you change where the pressure is applied, you can control where the Big Shot embosses. Here's a picture of the front, you can see the piece of Marina Mist cardstock adhered to the back of the folder. I drop down to the 'no tab' of the Multi-Purpose Platform when I use the Designer Frames folder with the cardstock shim attached to the back. This will help eliminate that slight line you get on your embossed cardstock, which is from the edge of the Designer Frames folder. The first tip I have for using the Designer Frames Textured Impressions Embossing Folders is to adhere a piece of cardstock, cut just smaller than the folder, to the back of your Designer Frames folder. I made this clean and simple card a few weeks ago and wanted to share how easy it is to do this kind of embossing with the Big Shot - Select Embossing - where I embossed inside an embossed frame.
